Advantages of the Infrared Game Camera

By: stephen joyce

The infrared game camera has lots of edges more than the normal photo flash camera. That isn't to point out that it's always the best solution, because there are times when a typical flash will be more acceptable. Still, for the bulk of hunters looking around, an infrared game camera is the improved option.

To start with, one reason why the infrared game camera is so popular today is that the battery life on these models is much bigger when compared to cameras with the standard flash. A standard photographic flash wants to generate a lot of power and it has to be charged before each use.

However, this isn't true with an infrared game camera because it produces no plain flash. , the battery gets used much less and can survive for a longer time of time. This adds additional convenience to your approach, allowing you to leave your camera untouched and fully operational for a significant period.

The main benefit that draws people to the infrared game camera however has nothing to do with battery life. It has o do with the animals you are hunting. A bright photographic flash can really cause an animal to become frightened and to run off. They may never even return to that spot again.

Glaringly this is a big drawback and it ruins the whole point of a game camera to start with. However, with an infrared game camera you won't be producing anything bright or visible that will frighten any animals away. This means that you will get the photographs and the details you were looking for, and you won't be wounding yourself in the middle.

An extra advantage to the infrared game camera is that since you aren't manufacturing a bright flash, you aren't giving away the location of the camera itself. This will help in keeping your camera safe from burglars or vandals who can easily spot the flash of common cameras.

One failing to the infrared game camera is that you can only photograph night or dark pictures in black and white. If you are allowing for blowing up or framing any shots of a prize buck that may stumble on top of your grounds, then the standard flash camera that captures the full range of colours might be more acceptable for your wishes.

As you can observe there are both positives and negatives to the infrared game camera. For most hunters, the positives completely outweigh the negatives, and an infrared game camera is the only choice.
